When I decided to try consulting, my goal was to be #1 on Google for the search phrase ‘brewery wastewater’. Sounds simple enough. I am not a web guy. I built this whole page myself, but I really don’t know what I’m doing. I think the term is ‘Enough to be dangerous’.
Eventually I got to be #4 on Google for ‘brewery wastewater’, but only in my immediate area (SW Colorado). I don’t show up in Seattle or Pheonix or…. Pretty annoying. Know of a good book on SEO?
Anyway, with Google Analytics I can see some of the phrases people use that find me. Remember, I was going for ‘brewery wastewater’.
- Brewery effluent pretreatment
- Pumping brewery wastewater
- Brewery drains pH
- Brewery wastewater treatment
- Brewery floors
- Brewery wastewater characteristics
- Microbrewery wastewater pretreatment
- brewing wastewater
- Wastewater for a 7 barrel brewery
- Brew waste
and my favorite
- Brewery caustic in eyes
I’m not making these terms up. People searched for these, found my site, and it tells me I need to broaden my focus.
Google Analytics is pretty cool. It’s free, and I can see where people come from. As in a search engine or linked from another site. If I was wondering which sites lead to the most traffic I can tell with a simple bar graph.
